It’s taken me 64 years to discover the healing magic of ethnobotanical treasures like the Blue Lotus flower. Ever the student and lover of Nature, flowers in particular, I imagine I was finally ready for, or in desperate need of this plant medicine.
When giving holistic health talks around town, I would often start my presentation by stating that I believed Mother Nature contained everything we needed in order to heal and be well and that it was an amazing gift to behold. This is still my worldview on holistic health.
A great admirer of Mother Nature, I’ve been known to stop my car to get out and take photos of flowering trees with my phone, and cliché as it may sound, literally smell the flowers. That’s how I discovered so many new varieties I was not familiar with growing up, like the Golden Shower and Jacaranda trees in the Royal Poinciana family, or the Orchid Tree and other spectacular flowering trees that grow in the tropical landscape I call home. My first Instagram account was mostly photos of flowers I encountered during my walks, drives or travels. I have been smitten with flowers since I started buying them for my dwellings. While we did not grow up with flowers in my childhood home, I made sure to always have some around when I started creating my own home environments.
Last Christmas, my second eldest daughter and her partner gifted me an exquisite glass teapot and flowers for making tea from The Qi. I made the Rose tea soon afterwards and found it to be so mild in flavor, unlike the double or triple bag infusions I usually make. Each Qi flower makes three cups of what I would call very weak tea. I don’t remember my mindset when I drank that Rose tea, but it didn't make such a memorable impression on me. It was lovely, but so light in color and flavor!
This past week and weekend I starting perusing the Anima Mundi Herbals website in search of a Rose tonic or tincture, as recommended to me by an Ayurvedic practitioner. Rose is a heart opening flower/essence, that imparts feelings of love. Rose is also known to be the flower with the highest energetic vibration. I happen to love roses; all sizes, colors and especially the ones with aroma. The essential oil blend that I wear contains Rose Geranium essential oil, I use rose water facial toner and rose soap for washing my hands and for bathing, and a rose blend deodorant. The moisturizing oils I use on my face usually contain rose.
Anima Mundi has unique botanical products I’ve never tried and I’ve been using herbal medicine and botanical, natural skin care and personal care products since my teens. I spent hours reading the descriptions and looking at the stunning photos on their website, placed an order for their Rose|Love + Serenity, a few other items and added the Blue Lotus Whole Flowers after reading several 5 star reviews about them. When I went back to the Ayurvedic practitioner, last week, I discovered she carried several of their products and purchased their DREAM tea, which contains both Blue Lotus and Rose petals, as well as other botanicals known to induce a state of relaxation and sleep. The DREAM tea knocked me out! Within 10 minutes of drinking it, I was nodding off. I’ve never drank an herbal blend this powerful, in 40 years of trying holistic sleep aids.
Yesterday, I found the box of Qi flowers that came with the glass teapot and to my delight, there were Blue Lotus as well as Chrysanthemum flowers in it! I made and sipped on the Blue Lotus tea most of the afternoon yesterday and found myself in a state of what the Anima Mundi blog calls “calm euphoria.” I was explaining the feeling to a friend of mine who could really benefit from this tea and she asked me to describe what I was feeling. Sedated and happy is how I described what I was feeling and then I read the term “calm euphoria” which described the feeling perfectly!
I am not an affiliate of either of these companies, but maybe I should be, because I highly recommend the calming, soothing and uplifting, extraordinary powers of these flowers, especially during these challenging and ever changing times. If you decide to try them, I hope they have the same magical and healing effects they have on me and many who have taken them.
Sweet dreams to you. I’m off to visualize, meditate and dream of a world where Mother Nature is truly revered for her incredible gifts and healing powers for the benefit of all humanity, all living things.
I had to share. I was so surprised at how quickly I felt the effects of these flower infusions, but I am highly sensitive. I hope you find some of these flowers in your area. Please share your experience if you like.
Thank you for this information Myriam. I will start to drink flowers tea. The ¨Shangri-la Rose Tea¨ on The Qi looks amazing. I also like Rose flowers. I put Rose Water in my eyes every day. The way I do that is to buy a small bottle with a dropper that I carry with me all the time. It is very good to relieve red eyes, dust etc.
Regarding the Rose Water, I use the brand Cedar from Lebanon. Very low price and easy to find. I have also tried other brands ten times more expensive but this one is fine, even better for me than the other brands.
